The World is for Everyone

The World is for Everyone (2017–2019) was a series of co-created creative projects with the Pamoja women’s group at Nottingham Refugee Forum, presented as a writing anthology, sound poem and photography exhibition at Palewell Press and Nottingham Central Library. The projects used multidisciplinary, multilingual group practices to generate collective visual and literary works, giving participants a platform to express their experiences and perspectives.

Funded with grant from the Nottingham Trent University Strategic Impact Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund via Refugee Week, the work centred socially engaged creative practice, learning, and community engagement. It prioritised collaboration, social justice, and the amplification of voices often underrepresented in the arts.

Through this project, participants explored storytelling, photography, and sound as tools for expression, fostering confidence, visibility and a sense of shared cultural and creative identity.
